Each musician has done more significant work elsewhere in their careers but this is certainly very enjoyable.
This is a CD and Fat Gut - Robin Trower / Jack Bruce - No Stopping Anytime (CD package each disc of which has been previously available separately for several years. They were each titled Seven Moons Live. Had the CD already now happy to have the DVD but I would have liked to have know that there is no new material here before spending the money. Not bad for a couple of old guys Jack's own words. Jack can still sing and Robin Trower is well Robin Trower, what else is there to say.
I wasn't familiar with some of the new stuff they did together compared to the Cream hits but found the mix of the old and the new to be a nice blend. If half stars were possible I'd probably give this one a 3. I liked it but it was really just OK in a lot of ways. It may get played every now and then but certainly won't be something I just have to listen to regularly.
Fat Gut - Robin Trower / Jack Bruce - No Stopping Anytime (CD this for the bass player because he knew jack bruce, as well as Ozzie Osborne, Jack bruce was a power trio player in cream, then moved over to Tony Williams lifetime band with John McLaughlin. I believe it was recorded for TV. Cd is good. DVD is rather low energy, but neat to see old coots playing such heavy, spacey rock.
Two great rock musicians creating great live music, Album). A great live mix. Was hard to watch. Jack Bruce looked and sounded so fragile.
See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. I had this on CD already when it was originally released as Seven Moons Live and love the music on it so for the music it is well worth it.
The DVD is very good. There are fleeting long shorts and fleeting shots with people in the foreground but that is an attempt to give a sense of the live setting, there are loads of close ups of Jack Bruce and Robin Trower and some of Gary Husband. One of the biggest pluses of seeing this gig is to see the smiles on the faces of both Trower and Bruce, who are clearly both enjoying playing together and enjoying the appreciation shown by the audience. I thoroughly recommend this album, I have absolutely no idea what the people who gave this bad reviews because of the choices of camera angles, were on about.
Sure I might have chosen differently but there is nothing to really complain about here. Report abuse. This made me VERY sad and angry.
The music is great, so if you only want the CD then I would give that 5 stars, but I just really wanted the DVD as I had most tracks on their albums which I prefer to live formats. The DVD for me is absolutely unwatchable, unless you enjoy going back to your youth when perhaps you were watching from the back of the Concert hall and trying desperately to see the stage. There are some great views of the backs of peoples heads for more than half of the concert.
Sometimes we are treated to watching from the balcony and get to see through the side profile of the audience with noses and hands nicely shown. We even get to watch from behind someone several times who I am assuming is the sound guy or maybe cameraman. At one point I went to make a cup of coffee to calm down before I threw something at the TV and incurred unneeded expense.
If you love watching the tops of peoples heads taking up a third of more of the screen then this is for you. At many points the idiot with the camera walks along behind the audience filming until the person in front Album) too tall blocks the entire screen and the Editor, presumably, cuts to a different view, maybe to right at the back of the auditorium showing Ant like performers or to the balcony with side profiles.
Whoever made this should be deeply ashamed of themselves and one watch for me was more than I could take as making my Coffee was much more enjoyable.
Sadly this will now just collect dust on my shelf or maybe e-bay looms, but could I really inflict this rubbish on another and take payment? Robin conjures up a storm of sound on Benny Dancer and you will hear it more effectively on this set.
Robin's liner notes mention how he feels about the Truce album although Robin's comments on it in the Dan Muise book are degrees differently with regards to Truce! I will pick up the first 3 cd set from Chrysalis after this purchase as it is distinctly worth the money. It was engineered by Peter Ellis Bishop. Disc Three 18 tracks 2 Albums - Truce 9 tracks featuring J.
I didn't mind The Chrysalis Years - 83 by R. One person found this helpful. This is basically all of the albums from that era with a few bonuses crammed onto three discs. There is no clear distinction where one album ends and the next one begins. But that's ok. You get the music first and foremost but not a lot of special features. If you want all of Trower's stuff from this period all in one full swoop this is it and it's actuall cheaper than buying them all seperately.
While not as strong as "A Tale Untold" this is still pretty good. I am not a fan of the first disc with "In City Dreams" and "Caravan to Midnight", though I am pleased those two albums are together on one disc since I always found them similar in style. I wish I could say the same for discs 2 and 3. While I like discs 2 and 3 musically better than disc 1, my only complaint is that they go in chronological order, much like the rest of this disc and "A Tale Untold".
This would make have made a better listening expericence, at least for me. Now for the music, I am pleased to hear "Victims of the Fury" in the correct running order without missing tracks unlike the two-fer CD with "Caravan". Finally, "Back it Up" the last album with Jamees Dewar is surprising good, I didn't even realize this album existed until a few years ago as I had no idea that Dewar made one more album with Trower before his death.
All in all, this is a worthwhile purchase, but I recommend starting with "A Tale Untold" which has Trowers first five studio albums and the live album. Most of the classic Trower tracks are on those first six albums. After these two collections don't be afraid to pick some more recent Trower albums as he's still make some pretty good studio and live CDs. See all reviews.
